2017 Sundance Film Festival: London

The Sundance Film Festival: London hosted by Picturehouse Central will be held from 1-4 June 2017. The programme will consist of showing both feature films and special events. Individual ticket sales, which started on Tuesday 2 May, are now available for purchase and you can find out more information about them here.

London’s festival will show 14 feature films chosen from the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The screened films are selected by the Sundance Institute programming team in collaboration with Picturehouse. The festival will begin by showing the International premiere of Miguel Arteta’s Beatriz at Dinner starring Connie Britton and Salma Hayek, and will finish four days later with the first showing in the UK of A Ghost Story by David Lowery, whose cast includes Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara.

This year’s programme will include a few new things. For the first time, the London event will screen a “Surprise Film” where no details about the film will be given and the title will be revealed only when the credits start rolling. An Audience Favorite award will also be introduced, which will allow those at the festival to vote for their favorite films and the winner will be announced on the last day of the event.

Additionally, the Special Events part of the festival will be comprised of three panel events and an “In Conversation” event. The three panels will be the “Independent Film Trumps Reality” panel, the “On Collaboration: Documentary Practices and Process” panel, and lastly the  “Art vs. Stepping Stone” panel. Director, David Lowery will participate in the ”In Conversation” part of the festival, where he will give advice about the filmmaking process before he closes the four days of film with his newest work.
