It’s going to be a big year for Nicholas Hoult.
The 24-year-old British actor’s name is almost exclusively linked to that of his A-list girlfriend, Jennifer Lawrence, these days, but that won’t be the case for long – he’s quickly rising into the realms of even more international fame all on his very own!
At age 12, Hoult first stepped into the spotlight when he starred opposite Hugh Grant in About a Boy. His next big project was playing Tony on the Channel 4 series Skins, and his career has been on the rise ever since.
Hoult was most recently spotted promoting his movie, Young Ones, at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah just a few days ago. While there, he stopped by to see Kristen Stewart’s work in Camp X-Ray. It was announced last week that Hoult and Stewart will star as lovers in Equals, a remake of the George Orwell classic 1984.
At Sundance, Hoult broke his silence about his on-again relationship with Oscar-nominated Lawrence, whom he accompanied to the Golden Globes last week.
“She deserves it all,” he said. “It’s fun to watch.”
And while he’s clearly a very supportive boyfriend, Hoult’s career is also becoming rather ‘fun to watch’ itself! His highly anticipated onscreen reunion with J-Law in X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to release at the end of May, and then he has ANOTHER film, Dark Places, with Chloë Grace Moretz, Charlize Theron and Christina Hendricks, coming out in early September!
Hoult also has the May 2015 release of Mad Max: Fury Road to look forward to. It’s the fourth installment in the Mad Max franchise, in which Hoult stars alongside Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. The film began shooting in 2012 but ran into difficulties and had to reshoot a number of scenes, but is currently in the post-production phase. Don’t panic, it is on its way!
And as if that isn’t enough, Hoult has two more films in the works: action-thriller Autobahn with Amber Heard, and animated film Once Upon a Time in the Kitchen.
Hoult of course reached his pinnacle in Tom Ford’s A Single Man, alongside Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, at the same time securing his place as the face of Tom Ford. But if you thought he had faded into the background since then, then think again. We’re feeling pretty confident that 2014 is going to be Nicholas Hoult’s biggest year to date…keep an eye on him!
