Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly always had an essence about her that made everything seem so easy. From her pearls and white gloves to her romance fit for a fairy tale, she always had everything together. A Touch of Grace, by Cindy De La Hoz, teaches us step-by-step how to be a princess, the Grace Kelly way.

The book is separated into 12 chapters, each detailing a different period of her life. It starts with her childhood, explaining how hard it was for her to get into the business. She wasn’t accepted into the college she wanted and she was considered too tall to act, so she had to take up random modelling gigs to be able to feed herself. She eventually made it big, winning an Oscar for her role in The Country Girl. Soon after, she became the princess of Monaco, a marriage she described as “fulfilling her destiny.”

A Touch of Grace

Although the book is mostly a biography, it is also full of tips on how to be more like Grace Kelly. Filled with rules to live by, you can see exactly what was important to Kelly during her life. One of Kelly’s rules was to be aware of seeming too perfect. There are pictures from every stage of her life accompanied by quotes from those who knew her best, including her friend and long-time director Alfred Hitchcock.

Cindy De La Hoz’s book will be released 20 March, the same month the V&A launches their Grace Kelly: Style Icon exhibit.
