Although he has been keeping a low profile for the last few years, this summer you will be seeing a great deal of Adrien Brody.

First up is his role in The Brothers Bloom, a comedy about two conmen, co-starring Rachel Weisz and Mark Ruffalo, and later this summer he will star in Predators, a sequel to the original horror film Predator (1987).

Adrien was born in New York City in 1973. His father is a history teacher with Polish Jewish heritage and his mother is a renowned photographer who was born in Budapest, Hungary, however she immigrated to America as a child during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against Russia.

Brody clearly showed a passion for performing at a young age, initially by putting on magic shows for his friends and at birthday parties and then by attending New York’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (the school that served as the inspiration for television series Fame).

He achieved early critical success in films such as Bread and Roses and the Thin Red Line. But it wasn’t until his Academy Award winning turn in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist that he achieved worldwide notoriety. He became the youngest actor to ever win an Oscar for Best Actor, and rightly so as, to prepare for the role as a Jewish man suffering in the Holocaust, he learned how to play the piano and lost 2 stone!

Since winning his Oscar, Adrien has appeared in a number of high profile films including The Village, King Kong, Hollywoodland, the Darjeeling Limited and most recently he had a small role in the animated film Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Plus, aside from being an incredibly talented actor, Adrien has also won praise for his sharp sense of fashion. In 2004, Esquire magazine named him the Best Dressed Man in America.

Guarded about his personal life, he is currently single, although he was previously engaged to Spanish actress Elsa Pataky.

The Brothers Bloom opens in cinemas on 4th June and Predators opens on 8th July 2010.
