Amour

Michael Haneke has, for the second time, won the prestigious Palme d’Or at the 65th Cannes Film Festival, with his somewhat sober expression of the promises of love, ‘Amour’.

The film, tells the story of an elderly Parisian couple, George (played by Jean-Louis Trintignant) and Anne (Emmanuelle Riva) whose love is tested when she suffers from a stroke. At a conference after the award ceremony, the Austrian director told how the tale was made ever-more personal, ”I’ve been through the same situation in my family, it touched me a lot. This is why I started to do this movie. All of this is kind of linked,” he said
