Ashish has unveiled his tenth collection for Topshop. Famed for quirky designs and a heck of a lot of sequins, the brand has taken their latest designs in a very specific direction this season.
Think hotel gift shop. The range features key holiday items such as beach towels, swimwear and sunglasses. The beach towels sport phrases such as ‘Dirty Beach’ and ‘Son Of A Beach’, the sunglasses feature one rounded and one square lense, and trainers boast a double stack platform. With neon lights.
Oh and there’s a lot of towelling. We’re talking towelling hoodies (see above), towelling skirts, and towelling shorts (which we’re really not too sure about). Print tees get silly and provocative with fill-in-the-blanks graphics, and a mesh top dares you to bare by exposing everything save for the nipples which they have kindly covered by two crosses.
The hoodie simply screams hotel souvenir in the most fashion forward way possible. White and gold are always a killer combination, and we can’t think of anything more satisfying than throwing this thing on after a holiday session in the pool or sea.
And there’s a soft towelling eye mask that adds a touch of glamour with its gold emblazoning of ‘Not Now’ across the front.
We love the indulgence and irony of this collection. A couple of the pieces may be a tad unwearable, but for the most part its a brilliant demonstration fun, play and irony in fashion.
And we can’t wait to see more.
