Brits: Hits and Misses!

Our favourite British artists and celebrities packed the O2 Arena last night for the 2012 Brit Awards. While the show had its highlights, including Rihanna in a paint-splattered glass box, Lana Del Rey’s nervous acceptance speech, and Adele being cut off, the red carpet proved to be more interesting.

The Good:

Say what you will about her music, Lana Del Rey, who won the award for International Breakthrough Act, looked classically beautiful in a red Vivienne Westwood gown. Adele, who went home with two Brit Awards, looked glamourous in a black Burberry gown. Though her recent red carpet dress choices have been a bit repetitive, Adele has proved she knows what works best for her body type.

The Good: Adele, Lana Del Rey, Rihanna, Pixie Lott

Rihanna looked her usual stunning self in a sparkling Givenchy couture dress, though we’re unsure about the leather gloves, and Pixie Lott paired a fitting black gown with bold red lips and accessories.

The Bad:

Others red carpet looks had us confused and dismayed. We love the cream-couloured Alexander McQueen gown worn by Florence Welch, but it completely washes her out. Emeli Sande channelled a frumpy Sunday school teacher in a black frock with contrasting cuffs and collar.

The Bad: Jessie J, Cher Lloyd, Florence Welch, Emeli Sande

Jessie J bared all in a see-through red gown and bouffant hair, while recording artist Cher Lloyd donned a pink sequined jumpsuit with contrasting black sleeves and zebra print pumps. We’ll pass on both.

The girl group ‘Little Mix’ and boy band ‘One Direction’ also faced off on the red carpet, the latter looking dapper in coordinating suits while their female counterparts missing the note in a clashing calamity. ‘Little Mix’ members each brought their own fashion faux pas to the table, from snakeskin trousers, neon and leather, to oxford pumps. It’s time somebody hired these ladies a new stylist.
