Calling All Budding Film Makers

Short films can be as gripping, thought provoking and entertaining as their longer, and always far bigger budgeted, feature length counterparts. Often with a bit more funding,  the good could become truly excellent and this is where sponsors play such a huge role. One such sponsor is Bombay Sapphire who, for the second year running, are launching the Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series: Film Competition at

Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series

The Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series: Film competition is in association with the Tribeca Film Festival® and is based around a short script provided by Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious). Film makers simply take the script and come up with an idea for a film using the supplied original dialogue.

It’s a simple premise, so there’s lots of room for imaginative interpretation. Two characters are in a situation which one of them thinks they should get out of, then it’s over to the film maker to go to town with ideas on setting, character, and genre. Here are the rest of last year’s amazing winning films.

The Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series: Film competition closes on 4 August 2013. The panel of experts which includes Adrien Brody, Geoffrey Fletcher and others from the Tribeca Film Festival will see all the ideas and choose the four most imaginative and different to go into full filming production – very exciting for someone! A further five ideas will be selected to go to a public vote, the winner of which will also go into production. All five winning films will premiere at Tribeca in April 2014.
