Filming in London began on the 16th of June, on Cemetery Junction, a motion picture directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the award-winning duo behind shows like The Office and Extras. The film stars Ralph Fiennes (The Reader), Emily Watson (Synechdoche), and Matthew Goode (Watchmen), as well as introducing actors Christian Cooke, Felicity Jones, Tom Hughes, and Jack Doolan.

Cemetery Junction, set in 70’s England, is the story of three young friends who feel tapped in their small towns and dream of something more. There is a love story intertwined into this original screenplay and it promises to be “glossy and glorious, full of humour, romance and drama, as well as observations of truth and the absurdity of real life.” The costumes are being designed by Ruth Myers (The Golden Compass) and the cinematographer for the film is Remi Adefarasin. (Elizabeth: The Golden Age).

Filming will commence in various locations all over London as well as Shepperton Studios. You can follow the progression of the film through Rick Gervais’ daily blog at www.rickygervais.com. The film will be released worldwide to cinemas in 2010.
