Arena, the 22-year-old British men’s style magazine, is the latest consumer title to face closure. The magazine’s owner, Bauer Media, said Tuesday that the company has “reluctantly,” suspended its publication and has entered into consultation with the magazine’s 12 staff members, a process that is expected to take up to four weeks.

“We will be seeking opportunities to re-deploy our talented teams in other areas of the group,” the company stated. Homme Plus, the biannual style title that began as a spin-off from Arena, will not be affected by Arena’s suspension, Bauer said. The company added it would work with its partners in Arena’s international editions “to ensure the continued success,” of those titles.

The title’s April issue, which goes on sale March 12, will be its last before the suspension. Bauer recently revealed plans to relaunch the twice-a-year women’s style title POP under new editor in chief Dasha Zhukova and editorial director Ashley Heath, who was instrumental in the launch of Arena and Arena Homme Plus.
