The Wrestler
Today sees the release of ‘The Wrestler’, the incredible comeback from Mickey Rourke, directed by Darren Aronofsky.
Mickey Rourke is amazing as Randy “The Ram” Robinson who was a headlining professional wrestler in the 80’s and now, twenty years later, eeks out a living by performing for handfuls of die-hard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centres around New Jersey. Forced into retirement after a heart attack he begins to evaluate his life, trying to form the relationships he’s avoided all his life.
I loved this film, take a scarf to hide behind if you haven’t got the stomach for some of the gory scenes in the ring. A must-see!
