Award-winning director of films such as Black Swan, The Wrestler, and Requiem for a Dream, Darren Aronofsky, is set to direct the new music video off of Lou Reed and Metallica’s collaborative album, “Lulu,” called “Iced Honey.”

The album was released at the end of last month to stellar reviews from Rolling Stone and the New York Times, among others, and the songs off the album were inspired by “German expressionist Frank Wedekind’s early 20th century plays, ‘Earth Spirit,’ and ‘Pandora’s Box,’ and were a rewrite of Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Raven.’

Lou Reed and the members of Metallica are beyond excited to work with the talented director. The drummer for Metallica, Lars Ulrich, has said, “As if making a record with Lou Reed is not enough…..now I get to make a video with Darren Aronofsky, who has been among my very favourite filmmakers since his first movie, ‘Pi.” Lou Reed agreed, stating, “I have loved Darren Aronofsky since he did ‘Pi.’ I hope I can be his next Black Swan.”

A clip from the video shot in the San Francisco Bay area will be released near the end of the month.
