In this case, “W” is for Wow!  It’s unanimous, Drew Barrymore looks absolutely stunning on the cover of this month’s W magazine.  The April issue features an array of beautifully shot black-and-white photographs of the actress, complimenting the mag’s detailed, yet emotional interview with the starlet.

In the six page spread, Drew talks about her upcoming role in HBO’s Grey Gardens, a film that chronicles the isolated life of American socialite “Little Edie”.  The part of Edie Beale, the eccentric cousin of Jackie O, proved to be Drew’s toughest, yet most rewarding role in her career thus far.  “Playing Edie, I felt like s—. I thought, I’m afraid beyond anything I’ve ever known. I’m miserable; I’m scared; I feel sick all the time. And I was like, Good!  At least I have somewhere to put it. You know what? I’m not f—in’ happy all the time. I like making people feel good, but it was great not to have to please anybody. I was out there for myself and for her,” Drew explains.

In addition to Grey Gardens, Barrymore talks to W about her tumultuous relationship with her mother, citing that they have “no contact” and “have never really reconciled” since the two parted ways when the actress was legally emancipated at age 15.  Other highlights include Drew talking about her directorial debut with the upcoming film Whip It and Steven Spielberg’s (the filmmaker is Drew’s godfather) reaction to seeing its rough cut.  He notes, “I was not surprised that she knew exactly where to put the camera because at six years old she was telling me where she thought I should put the camera,” making reference to their E.T. days.

And yes, W managed to get some juicy tid bits about the actress’s much publicized love life.  In the interview, Drew calls her five year relationship with Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti (the two split in 2007) “one of the most, if not the most, important relationship I’ve had in my life.”  Currently single, she goes on to say, “I’m just learning who I am and how relationships work and how to make them function.”

With a cover and photo shoot like this one, I don’t see how Ms. Barrymore can remain single much longer!
