One of our favourite Bond girls has struck again with a nomination for a 2011 BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award.  Gemma Arterton, who had the privilege of cozying up to Daniel Craig in the 2008 Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, still continues to amaze us with just how surprisingly versatile she is.

Recently her performance as Tamina in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has brought her into the limelight even more.  However she’s been working for years on of her previous films includes St Trinian’s, Three and Out, Tamara Drew and Guy Ritchie’s RockNRolla, all of which she shot in just a year!

Gemma attended the Royal Academy for Dramatic Art on a full scholarship after showcasing her broad range of talents.  She played many varied roles while at RADA which helped her land roles in two high profile television adaptations.  She played Elizabeth Bennett in ITV’s ‘Lost in Austen’ as well as the leading lady in Thomas Hardy’s ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’ on the BBC.

Born 12 January 1986, the English actress just celebrated her 25thbirthday, but she didn’t celebrate alone as she married Italian sales manager Stefano Catelli at a secret ceremony in Zuheros, Andalucia, Spain, on 5 June 2010.

The gorgeous Gemma will reportedly star in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters – coming out later this year – as well as Wrath of the Titans, to be released in 2012.  This working class girl from Gravesend may have started out humbly but she has certainly risen in the ranks and, although she seems to remain quite humble, is indeed a rising star.  We’re more than a little excited about what she comes up with in the future!
