Amber Valletta is often considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, but now she is trying her hand as a comedian. She will star opposite Jackie Chan in the family comedy The Spy Next Door this spring.

Growing up far from the spotlight in Oklahoma, Valletta spent most of her childhood playing with her cousins in a creek. When she was 15 years old, she was discovered and became one of the top supermodels of the 90s. Gracing the covers of ELLE and Vogue and the catwalks for Versace, Armani, and Calvin Klein, Valletta got to the same level as legends Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford. Following in Crawford’s footsteps, Valletta hosted a season of the MTV hit show House of Style in 1996, which took a look at the life of a supermodel and the modelling industry.

Although she loved photography and fashion, she wanted to get away from modelling and move onto new things. Her first major movie was What Lies Beneath, the 2000 thriller starring Michelle Pfeiffer. She also played the beautiful celebrity Allegra Cole in Hitch then worked with Sandra Bullock in Premonition. This past year, she starred in Gamer, opposite Gerard Butler, where they played a married couple that has to survive a video game.

The Spy Next Door is her first comedic role, and she says she liked it because she is naturally goofy. While working with Jackie Chan, she would help him with his English accent between takes and slap him across the face during takes. For one scene, she had to slap him over 20 times to get it to turn out perfectly.

Valletta met her husband, Olympic volleyball player Christian McCaw, when their parents set them up. The date went well, and the couple gave birth to their son Auden two years later and in 2003 they were wed.

In September 2009, Valletta, along with several other iconic supermodels, posed sans make-up in Harper’s Bazaar. None of them were retouched, and, although they are all past the standard modelling age, their natural beauty shined through. To keep looking like a supermodel, she trains 4 days a week and sticks to an all organic diet that keeps her skin glowing.  She recently tried her hand at designing a line for Monrow. Knowing that fashion staples are timeless, she focused on basics, instead of trendy items. She is also an activist for Oceana’s seafood contamination campaign and spends her free time trying to protect the world’s oceans.
