Although designers work for an entire year on the collections they show at fashion week, celebrities are stealing the stage just by making appearances in the front row.

The week kicked off with the Balenciaga show and, as usual, it attracted chic attendees. French actresses Melanie Laurent and Clemence Poesy were there, as was the new face of their perfume line, Charlotte Gainsbourg. Balenciaga also achieved a near impossible feat, having American Vogue editor Anna Wintour grace the front row.

Christian Dior’s models walked the catwalk with voluminous curls, orange eye shadow, and equestrian-themed outfits, wowing the likes of Charlize Theron, Leigh Lezark, Lou Dillon, and Jared Leto. Sitting together in the front row was Lily Allen, Dita von Teese, Katy Perry, Emma Watson, Zoe Zaldana, and Eva Green.

Stella McCartney’s show turned into a family affair. Sir Paul McCartney and girlfriend Nancy Shevell glowed while watching his daughter’s collection. Maria Shriver and her daughter Christina were in the front row as well, both attending their first Paris Fashion Week shows. Twiggy and her husband Leigh Lawson enjoyed watching the collection because their daughter played a crucial role in the design team. J.K. Rowling was also in the crowd after winning three tickets at a Gala Auction in London last June. She said she was doing research for a project, although, to many fan’s dismay, it was not for Harry Potter. Pop star Beth Ditto enjoyed the show, as did British model Laura Bailey. Stella’s longtime friend Thandie Newton skipped the Oscars so she could go to the show.

As a whole, the trend at Paris Fashion Week this year was flowers. Starting with digitally enhanced flowers at the Nicolas Ghesquière show and ranging from tropical florals at Antonio Marras to John Galliano’s roses.
