Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake

What do Justin Timberlake and Chris Moyles have in common? No it’s not a trick question, apparently JT has agreed to climb a mountain for charity. Justin is currently preparing for a week-long trek up Mount Kilimanjaro with rapper Lupe Fiasco and US singer Kenna to raise awareness of the global water crisis. He said: “I’ve been training four times a week to get my VO2 – oxygen consumption – levels up to expand my lungs. We’ll climb for a week straight, carrying 30 lbs on our backs. It’s going to be intense, but it’s going to be so rewarding. We’re going to be ready for it.” Ethiopian-born Kenna – real name Kenna Zemedkun – recently revealed he came up with the idea to bring awareness to something close to his heart. He said: “My dad almost died as a child from waterborne diseases in Ethiopia, and he had talked to me about digging a well there, and I thought, ‘I have too many friends who would be concerned with the subject of clean water. Maybe I can help out.’ ” The three musicians are not the only celebrities to embark on a gruelling charity trek up the Tanzanian mountain recently, need we mention Gary and his crew? We wonder if there will be any tears and tantrums like the last bunch who climbed the mountain? Somehow we can’t imagine JT and Co sobbing into their backpacks.

Goodbye Keane

Goodbye Keane

Keane are moving to America to change their image. Don’t you think that’s a bit drastic? Why not just get a hair cut, some decent clothes and save yourself a buck or two? But no, apparently it isn’t that simple. The trio say they are quitting Britain because they are tired of people focusing on their upper class roots and think a move to the US – where they have a host of celebrity fans, including Gwen Stefani and Kanye West – will force their music to be taken seriously. Singer Tom Chaplin said: “It’s amazing how far and wide our music has reached with other artists, especially in America.  There’s less stigma attached to us, like all of the things we have been lumbered with in Britain. Being posh etc etc – annoying things that have nothing to do with how we sound. Over there they make judgements solely on the music so we have these cool people and we should have some exciting collaborations coming soon.” The group – also comprising Tim Rice-Oxley and Richard Hughes – hope their move Stateside will help shape a new direction for their sound. Hmm we predict they will be back in a month or two.
