Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson

It looks like the credit crunch has hit Michael Jackson hard. The singer is selling personal items including his famous jewelled white glove and a robotic head. The ailing pop icon is holding a five-day public auction at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles in April. More than 2,000 possessions and memorabilia from his career will go on sale, including sequined socks, a portrait of himself dressed as an Elizabethan king, a collection of Pope-mobile buggies with Jackson’s face painted on them and the glove featured in his ‘Billie Jean’ video. The items included are so extensive, a six-volume book has been printed to detail every lot and US TV channel The Auction Network will broadcast the event live. Even the entry gates, arcade games, fixtures, fittings and amusement rides from Jackson’s abandoned Neverland ranch will be available for purchase. Sad times for the former star, he must be asking himself where did it all go wrong?

Jennifer Aniston and John in the Bahamas

Jennifer Aniston and John in the Bahamas

Are they on or off? Who knows, but for now Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer are on. Jen was taken on a surprise Valentine’s Day (14.02.09) vacation by John. The couple jetted off to the Bahamas on Thursday night (12.02.09) after John decided to organise an extra-special gift to mark his girlfriend’s 40th birthday last week. A source revealed to x17 Online: “John decided to surprise her on her birthday, by telling Jennifer he had organised a romantic getaway for the two of them for Valentine’s Day. Jennifer usually goes to Cabo or to Hawaii so the Bahamas was something new for her.” According to insiders on the island of Eleuthera, the couple stayed in a luxury home inside a gated neighbourhood and spent most of their time indoors, with occasional ventures onto the beach. Hmm… we can only imagine what they were doing, and we don’t think it was playing scrabble.

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole could be the next “Beyonce Knowles”, now come on this does sound a little far fetched to us. The Girls Aloud singer travelled to the US recently where she wowed record executives, leaving them desperate for her to sign a solo contract. A source told Britain’s Hello! magazine: “When Cheryl came over to Los Angeles she definitely wasn’t just there to enjoy the Grammys parties. She had meetings with Interscope label bosses which is a subsidiary of the Universal Music Group that represents Girls Aloud. Bosses seem confident that she could become a huge solo star, in the mould of Beyonce Knowles or Nelly Furtado.” Cheryl’s fellow judge on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ Simon Cowell is keen to help the 25-year-old singer become a worldwide star. He said: “I would say she’s a star, and she’ll work as well in America as she does here. She’s definitely got a shot.” Are we about to lose another of our stars to the States? Stay tuned to find out.
