Tom Cruise, the actor famed for his roles in films such as Top Gun and Mission Impossible, has revealed a bit more about his childhood and how it wasn’t always smooth running.
The 47-year-old star claims he had a troubled relationship with his father saying: “I didn’t want to just write the guy off. He was lost. I can’t speak specifically in terms of why and how he got to where he was – that was his journey.”
“All I can tell you is that he was overwhelmed by life… My mother basically did all the work, and then they got separated and I didn’t see him for a long time. He didn’t try and help the family financially or spiritually, and I lived with the effects of the chaos.”
However, Cruise did visit his estranged father on his death bed, just after he’d made it big with Risky Business in 1983. The actor told American Esquire magazine: “I hadn’t seen my father in about ten years. I found out he was dying, and I went to see him in the hospital. He knew that he’d blown it. There was a deep regret. I think he was torturing himself.”
However Cruise did always have his mother and sisters, whom he relied on a lot as he found it very hard to find ‘lifelong friends’ due his overly mobile lifestyle. He claims he was very protective of the girls in his family, especially if they were ever picked on.
He said: “If anyone was teasing my sisters, I really felt it… I’d create different characters and ad-lib sketches to make my sisters and my mother feel better. I’d try to make them laugh. I’d do Donald Duck as John Wayne.”
So there you go folks, a little insight into the life on Tom Cruise. It’s quite refreshing to hear him talk about his life as a layman rather than the incredible superstar he is now. Although it didn’t stop him try to quash the negative rumours around his marriage again!
He said: “Every night before we go to sleep, Kate and I look at each other and it’s like. ‘How’d we do today?’”

They keep the baby hidden for months saying loud noises aren’t good for babies, they’re afraid of the paparazzi, they’re keeping her safe and then they expose her to THOUSANDS of photographers and paps, and flash bulbs at their wedding!!!!!HYPOCRITES!!!!!!!And lastly, I’d like one of you rabid TC fans to answer this question for me, although I’m pretty damn sure I won’t get an answer.How do you feel about Tom Cruise leaving Nicole Kidman FOR NO APPARENT REASON mere months after she had miscarried his supposed FIRST biological child NOT COINCIDENTALLY right before he would have had to honor the payoff of their 10 year marriage contract was due to be up????Answers .anyone???
