At just 40 years old, it appears Jennifer Aniston has it all, but does she? True our favourite “Friend” has never looked more fit or happy, most probably due to her daily yoga sessions and her diet of fish and leafy greens. Yes, Aniston has been delt quite a few tough blows, but she knows how to bounce back from hard times on her own terms. Aniston has also dabbled in producing small films, directing, and even singing. “One thing I really love about her is she wants to do a broad range of things,” says Ken Kwapis, director of He’s Just Not That Into You.

However proficient she is at multitasking, though, it’s in Aniston’s genetics to act; her godfather was actor Telly Savalas, her mother was a model turned actress and her father landed a role in the soap Days of Our Lives. After graduating from NYC’s prestigious performing arts school, Aniston appeared in a few small flicks like Ferris Bueller and the TV series Mulloy before landing the role as quirky Rachel Green in Friends.

Her combination of quick wit and girl-next-door charm isn’t just on-screen. She’s captivated America with her easygoing personality and friendliness on the red carpet as well.

Unlike other celebrities with her talent, the glossy magazines she’s gracing don’t bash her for flitting from one late-night club to another or being too thin. “She has a body to be envied by us all, but I find it refreshing to not be able to count ribs,” says Ginnifer Goodwin, costar of He’s Just Not That Into You.

Aniston knows it’s important to stay grounded. But she wasn’t always that way. Her roller-coaster marriage to Brad Pitt left the actress devastated in 2005 when Pitt fell for Mr. and Mrs. Smith costar Angelina Jolie. She retreated to her California cottage to recuperate. Soon enough, Jen was back in full swing, photographed walking on the beach and shopping with friend Courtney Cox, but was all well in the Aniston camp?

A short-lived fling with Vince Vaughn, ironically, her costar in The Break-Up solidified her single status, although everyday she is linked with another Hollywood A-lister, like Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler. These days, her outlook on life and relationships is one we could all take a lesson from. “There are no sides! There are no villains and there is no heroine in this story. I remind myself every day that I am lucky.”

You can catch Jen in Love Happens this October and The Baster and The Bounty next year.
