Mathew Horne

Mathew Horne is a cute, quiet boy from Hackney, better known as the love-struck Gavin from Gavin and Stacey. One half of the comedy Duo Horne and Corden, Mathew has made it onto our screens from humble beginnings, and was snapped up for the best reason around: his talent.

Studying Performing Arts at Manchester University, Horne teamed up with fellow classmate Bruce Makinnon as part of his first comedy couple, taking their stand up show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was here that Horne was spotted by Catherine Tate and recruited for various roles in The Catherine Tate Show, most memorably for the sweet grandson that constantly tries to keep his grandmother out of trouble.

The show was a launch pad for Horne’s career, and since then he has enjoyed incredible success with Gavin and Stacey, written by himself and co-star James Corden. The programme was nominated for seven TV BAFTAs last year, with two wins. High expectations are therefore being placed on their newest offering, the sketch show Horne & Corden, before their new and very niche film, Lesbian Vampire Killers, hits the big screen. Like “American Pie on the set of Buffy” Horne tells The London Paper, this film has already sparked offence in certain circles, especially angrylesbians.biz, who say it’s simply gratifying male sexual fantasies. You said it first girls…

If you want to catch Mathew in something really juicy then go to the Trafalgar Studios to see his run in Entertaining Mr Sloane, starring with Julie Walters. This controversial 60′s Joe Orton play sees Horne as the character of Sloane, an untrustworthy seducer with a hidden past that will do anything to keep it there.
