My Bafta Night

On Sunday night I had the hottest ticket in town, an invite to the Bafta party at Grosvenor House to celebrate the King’s Speech sweeping the board, courtesy of Grey Goose. Colin Firth and his beautiful wife Livia are such an effortlessly cool couple I just want to see him win and her beam at every awards show now, what a classy export we have in them both to send over to LA for the Oscars on the 27th Feb. I always feel a twinge of patriotism when I see our British talent at the BAFTAS, even those who hate Jonathon Ross have to admit he does a good job, even the BBC have to buckle and have him back on air to host.

With Helena Bonham Carter owning that stage during her acceptance speech the night went probably as expected, with no curve balls and the awards going to well deserved talent. My favourite films had to be The Fighter, True Grit and The Social Network but I think the standard was pretty high this year, I also loved the soundtrack to 127 Hours, I need to have that on my iPod.

So with all the awards presented, it was time to party!  We were greeted with a choice of Grey Goose cocktails, now I’m a vodka kinda gal, so that is my ideal way to join a party, I think Chelsea Handler is our leader here with undying love of the Goose. Stephen Fry was our first celeb spot, followed by Kevin Spacey, Emma Watson and Dominic Cooper and then we just lost count, oh apart from the boys who didn’t stop talking about Gemma Arterton for most of the night. To be fair they were actually really impressed with seeing Spacey too, it’s a Usual Suspects boy thing.

We found ourselves a cosy sofa positioned nicely opposite the Grey Goose bar and did our most discreet star spotting and mingling. Luckily I found Dave @heyuguysblog, from my favourite film site and Matt @spliggle from Sky Movies to hang with and soon our corner became ‘the’ other place to be than the W Hotel, where Harvey Weinstein had his party. We left with fancy swag from Lancome, Genifique and Hypnose mascara and ‘borrowed’ place mats with our fave Bafta nominees on, I got Colin Firth, Helena BC and Matt Damon > please don’t ask for them back!

So home by 3.30am on a Sunday night was well worth the tired Monday feeling after a brilliant night at a really swanky party, thank you Mr Grey Goose, we like your style and I’ll see you at The Oscars, my invite is in the post isn’t it….?

Loved what Thandie Newton was wearing on the night? We’ve got exclusive footage of her getting ready for the event on Sunday afternoon! Click here to watch it…
