Helena Bonham Carter Great Expectations

Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham

Yet another movie remake of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, Great Expectations, is in the works, but we’re especially excited about this one after hearing the film’s cast. Taking the lead role of Pip is Jeremy Irvine, star of this year’s War Horse, in which he received critical acclaim. A new picture of the actor dressed in character has just been released and we think the role it set to suit him quite well.

Playing opposite the young star will be Holliday Grainger (Jane Eyre), who will play Estella, the cold-hearted man-eater who breaks Pip’s heart. We can’t wait to see Grainger’s take on the role, which could quite possibly launch her career as the hottest new up-and-comer.

Playing the iconic character of Miss Havisham, the jilted bride who goes insane after being rejected at the alter, is the perfectly suited Helena Bonham Carter. Pics of the actress in character were recently revealed and she looks amazing. The incredible Ralph Fiennes will take the role of Magwitch, the convict who doubles as Pip’s mysterious benefactor, and Robbie Coltrane will play Mr. Jaggers, the lawyer hired by the convict to make sure the poor orphan, Pip, rises to upper class society.

The film’s director, Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), will join screenplay writer, David Nicholls (One Day), in making the film, due out next autumn.
