Gucci just released news of their new documentary film award for filmmakers that highlight women’s issues in their workplaces.

The famous luxury brand is teaming up with PPR’s Corporate Foundation for Women’s Dignity and Rights to create the Spotlighting Women’s Documentary Award, which will bring to the world’s attention inspiring and often forgotten women’s stories around the world.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of women’s issues – such as violence, rights and empowerment to a larger audience,” said PPR chairman Francois Henri Pinault.

The winning prize for this award is $50,000 (or £30,900). Gucci began collaborating with the film industry back in 2009 when they provided grants for the Gucci TriBeCa Documentary Fund. The company handed out a total of $100,000 (about £62,000) to seven projects in their effort to underscore the importance of documentary filmmaking in our society.
