Brighton-based beauty Kate Walsh will tour with her new album throughout the UK, kicking off this weekend in Manchester and continuing for the following month. The singer-songwriter has produced a poignant third album, featuring lilting numbers simply spilling over with emotion.

The title track, “Light and Dark,” might just be the saddest of Walsh’s songs: “It’s about two men and they both heard it independently and knew it was about them… it was awful going through it,” she says. These emotions—shining through on tracks like “I Cling On For Dear Life” and “As He Pleases”—drive Walsh’s loyal fan-base, though. Fans are able to relate to the stories that unfold through that sweet edge in her voice. Luckily, tracks like “June Last Year” (the first single) are more triumphant: “I won’t give you up without a fight,” etc.

It’s certainly been a rollercoaster ride for the 32-year-old Essex native. Her music career skyrocketed after being featured as an iTunes Free Single of the Week back in 2007, followed shortly by the huge success of her second album, Tim’s House. This effort made her the first unsigned musician to reach the #1 spot on the UK iTunes Store album charts.

Backed by an entire new album, Walsh now makes quite the declaration: “I’m not giving stupid men the time of day anymore.” And they certainly won’t be tolerated in her music from here on out.

Catch her on tour from Sunday, 27 September through Wednesday, 21 October at a variety of venues, spanning the UK and including Cardiff, Bristol, London, and Edinburgh. For more information, go to www.katewalsh.co.uk or her profile at www.myspace.com/katewalsh.
