Katy Perry on Sesame Street
Katy Perry recently had a spat with Sesame Street over a video she did with Elmo featuring a rephrased version of her song, “Hot n’ Cold”.
Apparently, parents everywhere spoke out against the video claiming that Katy’s attire is too scandalous for pre-schoolers. To cover their tracks, Sesame Street agreed to drop the video from their New Year’s episode.
Albeit the lime green sweetheart dress is a bit risqué for four-year-olds, Saturday Night Live teamed up with Katy to perform a skit poking fun at Sesame Street for the controversy.
The spoof features comedians Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph as TV hosts. Katy plays a teenager dealing with commentary over her developing figure. Ironically, Katy is wearing an Elmo T-shirt with a deep V cut into the neckline and a schoolgirl skirt.
We’re kind of sad that Katy’s video was dropped from the New Year’s special line-up of Sesame Street; it’s actually rather comical. Check it out on Youtube along with Katy’s SNL performance!
