It was a fusion of fashion and art at the First Annual Art Awards at the Guggenheim Museum last night. Presented by Rob Pruitt artist and event organizer he was joined by Kylie Minogue and Julianne Moore.  Kylie looked chic as ever in a Calvin Klein Collection frock. The star admitted she’d given up her precious Thursday-night TV for a night out with artists and the team from co-sponsors Calvin Klein Collection. said “I could have stayed home and watched 30 Rock or my new obsession, Glee,” the pop star pointed out. “But the art world is intriguing. I’ll probably trip over someone and have no idea how important they are.”

Performance artist Kembra Pfahler turned heads of guests like Nate Lowman, Julianne Moore and James Franco when she arrived wearing nothing but knee-high boots, a giant wig and blue paint. She took her seat next to Artist of the Year winner Mary Heilmann, with a napkin delicately placed between her blue bum and the Plexiglass chair. It was a good night for girl power, legendary performance artist Joan Jonas accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award, Connie Butler won over a trio of male curators, and Mary Heilmann beat out Urs Fischer, Dan Graham, and Louise Bourgeois for Artist of the Year. The trophy they all took home was a lightbulb plugged into a Champagne bottle.
