Little Noise Sessions raises funds and awareness for learning disabilities

This year the acoustic festival, Little Noise Sessions, is celebrating its fifth birthday and to celebrate Mencap has put together a stellar line-up.  This year’s festival has been put together by Mencap Ambassador Jo Whiley, who has ensured that once again Mencap’s Little Noise Sessions will bring some of the hottest names in music.

Kicking off Mencap’s Little Noise Sessions birthday celebrations in style on Monday 15th November is Welsh legend Tom Jones who will be performing a special set from his latest album Praise & Blame.  The charity has also recruited multi-platinum selling Paolo Nutini who will be performing on the festival’s second night and the new ‘it’ band Hurts who will be performing the third night.  Musical acts for the other three nights are still being announced but past acts have included Lily Allen, Florence + the Machine, Amy Winehouse, Kasabian, and Bono and The Edge.

Mark Goldring, Mencap’s chief executive, said, “We are thrilled to be celebrating the fifth year of the Little Noise Sessions. These intimate gigs not only raise much-needed funds for Mencap, they also help us to raise awareness of learning disability, which can be a hard disability to understand. The money raised will help Mencap continue to support thousands of people with a learning disability across the UK.”

This year’s festival will be from 15th – 20th November at Islington’s Union Chapel.  Tickets go on sale Friday (15.10.10) and can be purchased at the festival’s website.
