Mad Men’s Sixth Season: What To Expect

BATD ON Mar 12, 2013 AT 12:16 pm

First, I’ll give you the bad news. The return of Mad Men marks the second-to-last season of the Emmy Award-winning television show. But there’s a good side to this and it’s the anticipation you’ll feel while waiting for April 7th to arrive, especially after you get the 411 most recently released by creator Matthew Weiner. Save the date because you wouldn’t want to miss the two-hour premiere full of tailored suits and office drama. We’re getting giddy just thinking about it!

The saga picks up where it halted in 2012, however, there’s talk of a time jump. What this means we don’t quite know, but here are some hints about other aspects:

- Peggy isn’t gone for good.

- Don may not be made for marriage after-all.

- Something is lost and it seems to be something big.

- Suicide isn’t in Pete Campbell’s future.

- The story changes, but provocative entertainment remains.

Weiner gives viewers some advice by saying, “I would love for people to just watch the last 10 minutes of Season 5 right before Season 6 starts. I think you’ll have a really incredible experience as we get there.”

Recently the sixth season’s promo poster designed by veteran British illustrator Brian Sanders (TWA flight menu artist) was released and it dutifully sparked some questions.

There are many mysterious goings-ons in this picture. Notice that Don Draper has a double, one of him is holding a woman’s hand, he’s going down a one way street possibly the wrong way whilst the police hang behind him, and what about that plane departing high in the sky? What a worried face that is that Don wears. We’re feeling the stress too as we ponder what all of these clues could mean. Only time will tell!

Mad Men’s Season 6 premieres Wed. 10 April, 10 p.m. on Sky Atlantic just three days after its debut in the US.
