You’ve probably heard the catchy new single “No” by Meghan Trainor, a fun anthem about how girls can respond to get rid of a boy who won’t stop pestering them (Hint- the word is “no”). Her second album Thank You is set to be released 13th May 2016.
It’s been a bit of time since we’ve heard “All About That Bass” playing constantly on radio, but have no fear Trainor has been as busy as ever. Not only does she have brand deals with Clinique, but also has clothing deals with FullBeauty- a fashion line for the fuller figured woman.
What makes Trainor interesting though, is that the talented singer first got her start as only a songwriter. She’s written material for Fifth Harmony, Rascal Flatts, and Disney Channel actress Sabrina Carpenter. She tried to sell her first single to various artists, and both Beyoncé and Adele’s teams were tempted. However, they all ultimately passed on the song, and Trainor’s recording label decided to go ahead and just release the song with her demo.
At only 22 years old, Trainor hasn’t done too bad for herself. Signing onto a recording deal at 18, her first album Title platinum, and a Grammy for Best New Artist brings her a much deserved confidence for her future career endeavours.
Fun fact, though, before signing Trainor had self-released three albums on her own. However, they are virtually impossible to find as Sony has erased all evidence of them. Presumably because they were released when she was so young, that they no longer reflect her singing and songwriting capabilities.
She is very active on social media (her Instagram is @meghan_trainor) which features pictures of her brand new brown locks. She gave the reason for the new hairstyle because “new album means new hairstyle.”
Thank You is available for preorder at iTunes and Amazon.
