Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds in The Change Up

Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds in The Change Up

We’ve got three fab films out this week (from 16th September) and if you can, I’d definitely go and see all of them over the weekend! There’s a potential Oscar nod to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy; a very funny comedy with BATD faves, Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds, The Change Up and a good old fashion rom-com, I Don’t Know How She Does It.

See what you’re in for below…

The Change Up

With Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds in this flick, we really couldn’t care less what the storyline was. Regardless, the film is very funny and made us laugh all the way through. It’s not complicated but is it great viewing if you’re looking for some eye candy and a chuckle.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Best friends Dave and Mitch lead very different lives. Dave is a successful lawyer, has a beautiful wife and two children. Mitch on the other hand has never quite grown up, shuns responsibility and leads a carefree bachelor lifestyle. Each would like to be in the other one’s shoes, and after a fateful night out drinking they wake up the next day only to realize that they have somehow switched bodies. They discover that each other’s lives were nowhere near as perfect as they thought, and struggle to keep up appearances until they can get their old lives back.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

This film, with Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Tom Hardy amongst other British Hollywood heavyweights, has already been getting Oscar buzz around it and we really enjoyed it when we saw the previews. It is a heavy storyline and quite longwinded, however if you love a spy thriller then this is the film for you. Plus, we love Benedict Cumberbatch (aka Sherlock).

British agent Ricki Tarr discovers the existence of a mole at the heart of British Intelligence, and so begins the hunt to uncover the Russian spy. MI6 agent George Smiley, is a careworn but brilliant spy whose implacable drive leads him out of retirement and into the middle of a labyrinthine conspiracy. The Circus leadership is not alerted since any one of them could be the mole.

Having both seen the film and interviewed Sarah Jessica Parker (click here to read the exclusive interview) recently, I can safely say this is a film worth watching. The rom-com centres around a Boston-based working mother (SJP) trying desperately to juggle marriage, children, and a high-stress job. It’s a non-stop balancing act, the same one that Kate’s acerbic best friend and fellow working mother Allison (Christina Hendricks) performs on a daily basis, and that Kate’s super-brainy, child-phobic young junior associate Momo (Olivia Munn) fully intends to avoid. When Kate gets handed a major new account that will require frequent trips to New York, Richard also wins the new job he’s been hoping for and both will be spreading themselves even thinner. Complicating matters is Kate’s charming new business associate Jack Abelhammer (Pierce Brosnan), who begins to prove an unexpected source of temptation.
