Ryan Gosling in Drive

Ryan Gosling in Drive

Three fantastic films come to the big screen this week. We have an action drama starring Ryan Gosling, a romantic comedy starring the hilarious Steve Carell and another action drama with BATD favourite and über toned, Tom Hardy.

Drive

Adapted from James Sallis’ 2005 novel of the same name, ‘Drive’ is an action drama, which is receiving rave reviews from critics and casual moviegoers alike. There are fantastic performances from Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooks as villainous Bernie Rose (who has already generated Oscar buzz for best supporting role).

The film focuses on Goslings character (who is never named), a Hollywood stuntman who also moonlights as a getaway driver for criminals. When ‘Drivers’ neighbour, and romantic interest, Irene (Carey Mulligan) gets dragged into a dangerous criminal underworld by ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac), Driver finds himself driving for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals (Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman).

Crazy, Stupid, Love

If you’re dead set on seeing Ryan Gosling on the big screen this weekend but don’t fancy the action drama ‘Drive’ then you’re in luck as Gosling is also starring alongside Hollywood funny man Steve Carell in rom-com ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’.

We recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Steve Carell which you can check out HERE AND his co-star Julianne Moore which you can check out HERE…

Crazy, Stupid, Love revolves around Cal Weaver (Carell), a forty something man who has a loving family, great job and pretty much the perfect life, until he discovers that his wife, Emily (Julianne Moore), has been cheating on him and wants a divorce. Cal’s “perfect” life quickly unravels before his eyes, and to make matters worse, Cal, who hasn’t dated in decades stands out as the epitome of un-smooth. However this is where Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), a thirty something ‘player’, steps in taking Cal under his wing.

Also starring Emma Stone, Marisa TomeiKevin Bacon and Analeigh Tipton you can check out the trailer HERE…

Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton in Warrior

Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton in Warrior

Warrior

Our must-watch this week goes to ‘Warrior’ which is pure cinematic genius.

It tells the story of ex-Marine Tommy Conlon (Tom Hardy), who returns home for the first time in fourteen years to enlist the help of his father (Nick Nolte) to train for SPARTA, the biggest event in Mixed Martial Arts history. Tommy takes to the sport like a natural and blazes his way towards the championship bout. Tommy’s brother Brendon (Joel Edgerton), an ex-fighter-turned teacher, is also gunning for the title in a desperate bid to save his family from financial ruin. But when Brendan’s unlikely, underdog rise sets him on a collision course with the unstoppable Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront each other and the forces that pulled them apart, facing off for the title.

This is one of favourite films out this year and the performances from Hardy and Joel Edgerton are sublime. Definitely head down to the cinema to catch this and take all your male friends along, they’ll love you for it.
