Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll

Meryl Streep still does it for me in a role made for her. In this classic rom-com she stars alongside the brilliant Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.  Set the scene, it’s all very Santa Barbara glossy, and a ‘take me there’ set; Jane (Meryl) owns a chi chi bakery, has been divorced from Jake (Alec) for ten years and is attempting an amicable relationship with him, despite his new, young hot wife played by Lake Bell. With a new charming architect (Steve) on the scene things seem to be slipping into place…until she accidently sleeps with Jake at their son’s graduation and lands herself slap bang in the middle of a love triangle. Lots of enjoyable family fun follow. Who will she choose? Click here to watch the trailer. Click here to enter our competition to win film goodies.

Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll

With Ray Winstone starring (need I say more?) and Andy Serkis putting in a superb performance, this bio flick is well worth a watch. Telling the tale of the legend of Ian Dury (Andy), a true original rocker from the 70’s, and with his band making a name for themselves on the pub circuit, he ditches his mates and starts up The Blockheads. As fame and fortune comes knocking Ian has to deal with the demands of his wife, mistress and his son that he scarcely knows.
