Julia Roberts & Tom Hanks star in 'Larry Crowne'

We’ve got a few great film recommendations for you this week. So whether you like a rom-com, action blockbuster or drama, there’s something for everyone…

LARRY CROWNE

The star-studded film Larry Crowne debuts in the UK tomorrow, 1st July, and it gives us exactly what we want from heavyweights like Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts… a very classy rom-com!

Shia LeBeouf in Transformers 3

The film follows a recently-unemployed adult (Tom Hanks) who has to go back to school to earn his degree – and falls in love with his caring teacher (Julia Roberts).

It’s definitely worth a watch this weekend.

TRANSFORMERS 3: DARK OF THE MOON

The latest installment in the Transformers films follows the revenge of the Autobots, who were defeated in the last movie, Revenge of the Fallen.  The plot thickens when they learn of the crashed Cybertron spacecraft on the moon, and the Autobots must race against the Decepticons to find the ship and learn of its secrets.  Sam Witwicky (Shia LeBeouf) will of course be at the side of his favorite robot friends – with his love interest Carly Spencer (played by Rosie Huntington-Whitely) accompanying him along the way.

THE CONSPIRATOR

In post-Civil War Washington, eight ‘conspirators’ were arrested for allegedly planning to kill President Lincoln – including 42-year-old Mary Surratt (played by Robin Wright Penn), the token female of the bunch.  The entire nation instantly turns against her, but her Union war hero lawyer (played by James McAvoy) suspects she is only defending her guilty (and missing) son.  Directed by Robert Redford and boasting a cast that includes Justin Long and Alexis Bledel, this film looks like a definite hit for any audience.
