Robert Sheehan and Ben Barnes in Killing Bono

Robert Sheehan and Ben Barnes in Killing Bono

We’ve got three films out this week that cover all the bases. So, if you’re bored of the muggy weather that can’t make up it’s mind, why not try one of these to keep you out of trouble:

Killing Bono

Starring Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian from the Narnia film series) and Robert Sheehan (Misfits), this film is pretty funny, sounds silly but when you know it’s based on a true story it’s even funnier and worth catching if you’re a music/U2 lover.

Two Irish brothers, Neil and Ivan McCormick (Ben Barnes and Robert Sheehan), try to form a successful rock band together but, as their high school friends form U2, all their hopes are crushed as they become the biggest band in the world. The film takes you on the haphazard highs and lows of the brothers as they move to London to find their fortune in the cut throat world of the music business. Some great performances by Peter Serafinowicz and the late, great Pete Postlethwaite, who brilliantly plays a creepy gay old letch who prays on the boys desperate state and provides them with seedy lodgings and expects lots of ‘gratitude’ in return. A fun movie and good trip down memory lane if you remember the good old days of buying records and 45′s.

Source Code

We’ve caught this film already and definitely think it’s worth checking out… if not for the suspense then just for Jake Gyllenhaal…

When airman Captain Colter Stevens wakes up in someone else’s body, he discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. A program designed by the government called Source Code enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second much larger target threatening to kill millions looming, Colter re-lives the incident over and over until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.

Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch out in cinema 1st April.

Sucker Punch

Already hyped up as it stars Vanessa Hudgens in her first role post High School Musical, this would definitely be one for the boys. Scantily clad girls with guns pretty much sums this film up but if you’ve got some making up to so – and don’t get jealous – definitely take your other half to see this flick….

Locked away in an institution against her will, Babydoll joins forces with four other girls, outspoken Rocket, street-savvy Blondie, loyal Amber and coy little Sweet Pea to escape from their captors. With her vivid imagination, she creates a dream world which provides them with the ultimate escape from their reality. Battling in a fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, the girls must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive.
