Easy A

Emma Stone in Easy A

If the cold outside is too much to bear, you might as well spend your whole weekend at the cinema as there are a load of films being released on Friday that are worth watching.

Our favourite “It Girl” of the moment, Emma Stone, stars in the movie Easy A.  The movie is about Olive Penderghast, a high school student whose reputation goes from nonexistent to campus whore.  It’s a smart and funny movie based on the classical book Scarlet Letter and did we mention Penn Badgley is shirtless in many of the scenes?

Just in time for Halloween, Paranormal Activity 2 is hitting cinemas.  In this flick, a couple believes they are experiencing burglaries and install a security camera, only to find out there is something paranormal about the events.  If this is as scary as the first film was, we suggest you don’t see it alone.

This weekend there are a lot of family movies out.  The first is Legend of the Guardians, which is about a young owl who joins the Guardians when an evil threatens his home. Although this sounds like one for the kids, if you like your films in 3D, this is the one for you. I’ve actually seen the trailer in 3D and it’s an incredible experience!

Movies 22/10

RED, Ramona and Beezus and Legends of the Guardian

The second family flick is Mary and Max—the movie focuses on the unlikely pen-pal friendship between an 8 year old girl and 44 year old man with Asperger syndrome.  We were a little iffy about the plot line, but the movie has been getting great reviews by the press so we’re excited to see what it’s like.

Next, Ramona and Beezus, which is based on the books by Beverly Clearly, is out.  Ramona (played by 11 year old Joey King) is a energetic little girl who tries to save her family’s home.  Disney darling Selena Gomez plays Ramona’s older sister Beezus; Josh Duhamel, Ginnifer Goodwin and John Corbett also star in this flick.

And finally, we’ve already mentioned how excited we were to see this movie a few days ago, but thought we’d remind you it’s out Friday.  RED (Retired and Extremely Dangerous) boasts a stellar cast.  The characters, played by Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich, who used to be CIA agents but are now CIA targets.  This movie is full of action and comedy—perfect.

Have fun this weekend!  We’ll be seeing you at the cinema.
