Michael Sheen in The Damned United

Michael Sheen in The Damned United

We hear this weekend may well be a bit of a wash out, so the thoughtof  staying in with a DVD and a glass of vino is far more appealing than venturing out into the cold. There are a whole host of brilliant DVDs to keep you occupied, our pick this week is the Changeling. If that doesn’t float your boat Bond is back (shame the trunks aren’t though) in Quantum of Solace. The only thing getting us out of the house this weekend (apart from a last minute shoe sale) is The Damned United starring Michael Sheen.

Quantum of Solace

Quantum of Solace

The Damned United
Ever since we saw Michael give his superb performances as Tony Blair in the Queen and as Journalist David Frost we have been firm Sheen fans. He shines equally as bright in this brilliant film. Chronicling the 44 days in which Brian Clough was the manager of Leeds United, we follow Brian as he takes over the reins from his bitter rival Don Revie. It’s dark humour and great story line make this our must see movie in the cinema this week. Watch the trailer here.

Quantum of Solace
Did this much anticipated Bond sequel live up to all the hype? Well watch and find out. Picking up where Casino Royale left off, we join James on his mission to hunt down the team behind Vesper’s murder. Bond soon runs into the gorgeous Camille (Olga Kurylenko) who has her own score to settle while he hunts down Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric),the man behind the organisation. As with all Bond films there are beautiful ladies, cars and all out action. We must admit we were very disappointed to see the speedo’s didn’t make a reappearance,  but Daniel still looks rugged and dashing throughout. Click here to buy it on DVD now

Angelina Jolie was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in this film, so our expectations were high. Directed by Clint Eastwood Changeling tells the tale of a mother Christine Collins (Jolie) who is left distraught after son goes missing. Some months later she is reunited with him, however Christine is adamant that the child they have brought to her is not her son. A gripping tale, full of drama and suspense that is well worth a watch. Click here to buy the Changeling.
