Revolutionary Road

Revolutionary Road

Three brilliant films caught our attention this week. If you’re stuck for things to do this weekend, why not take a trip to the cinema. For me the only film worth seeing is Revolutionary Road. If however you fancy a night in with the popcorn, there are a fabulous array of DVD’s on offer to rent. My pick of the week is thriller Taken and hilarious comedy You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.

Grab a tissue, or a box of them, and head to Revolutionary Road, a film starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in their first reunion since Titanic. Seven years into their marriage, Frank and April Wheeler have carefully construed a perfect lie. Frank (DiCaprio) has an office job in New York City while April (Winslet) is a housewife. When the two move to Paris at April’s urgency for change, depression and a sense of desperation force the two to find a deeper meaning in the cookie-cutter life they always took for granted. This tearjerker will leave you pining for Frank and sympathizing with April until the credits roll.

Taken

Taken

Our second selection this week, is a contemporary thriller directed by Pierre Morel. In Taken, a war veteran (Liam Neeson) scrambles to put the pieces of his life back together after his daughter (Maggie Grace) is abducted by slave traders. His frantic, love-driven search for her through Europe will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. A suspense filled, gripping action flick you don’t want to wait another day for.

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan

You Don’t Mess with the Zohan

If you’re in the mood for laughing until your sides cramp, rent You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. This comedy is tailored for Adam Sandler diehards. In order to escape his dangerous life in Palestine, Zohan Dvir (Sandler) boards a plane to New York, and works for free as a hair stylist. Will he manage to escape his past and bag the girl of his dreams all at the same time? It’s classic Sandler, hilarious, crazy, completely unbelievable and totally watchable.
