Last night marked Hollywood sex symbol, Scarlett Johannson’s return to the stage, in what was the opening night of Tennessee Williams’ Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. And yet, turning her hand to the iconic role of Maggie the Cat, who has in the past been played by Elizabeth Taylor, Jessica Lange and Ashley Judd, Scarlett told The Associated Press, “I think her sexuality is often overplayed and overappreciated. It’s such an important part of this story. . .  There’s no need to drape yourself all over the stage and roll around in a satin sheet.”

And whilst that may be the case, when you’re as overtly sexual as Scarlett, and wearing little other than a slinky, satin slip, it’s pretty hard not to purr under the spotlight. Which, according to critics, is exactly what Johansson did in what was her first off-screen performance since she made her highly-acclaimed Broadway debut in Arthur Miller’s A View From The Bridge.
