Silent Cinema Comes to St Martin's Courtyard

For two nights only , Silent Cinema will transform Covent Garden’s St Martin’s Courtyard into an open air theatre for perfect summer-evening al fresco film-viewing.

A full sized cinema screen will be erected in the courtyard, the soundtrack will be transmitted through wireless headphones and local dining hotspots will be serving film-appropriate snacks throughout the movies.

On Wednesday 8th August, find yourself transported to the vibrant hustle and bustle of India as the mini film festival opens with an enchanting performance from Bollywood Dance London to set the scene, followed by the all star comedy The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which will be screened at 8 pm. St Martin’s Courtyard’s delicious Bombay cafe Dishoom will be serving a treat of a tipple of chai made with either Baileys or whisky.

Or alternatively take your seat on Thursday 9th August, where the charming Italian classic Cinema Paradiso will be screened at 8 pm. To complement the movie, Italian enoteca Dalla Terra will bring a taste of Italy to the courtyard with mini picnics of the finest Italian cheeses and hams.

For a chance to get your hands on a pair of London’s hottest tickets, simply visit stmartinscourtyard.co.uk/silentcinema and enter your details.  100 winners will be contacted one week prior to the screening.

And if you’re not one of the lucky ones to win tickets, rock up early on the night as there will be a number of tickets available for each screening on a strictly first come first serves basis. Every one of the 100 ticket holders will receive two tipple cards from Dishoom, entitling them to two free cocktails in the restaurant after the film.

Or alternatively, to ensure one of the best seats in the house, book in advance for dinner and a movie at one of the  St Martin’s Courtyard restaurants.  Contemporary Thai restaurant Suda, British café come restaurant Bill’s and Italian enoteca Dalla Terra will all be serving up special menus on their al fresco tables, at a set price which will include a headset so that you can enjoy dinner and drinks whilst you sit back and watch the film.
