Abigail Breslin

Abigail Breslin’s breakthrough role was in the 2006 comedy-drama ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, where she played Olive, a beauty pageant contestant who was the youngest in a dysfunctional family on a road trip.

She was cast at the age of six, years before filming was started. Her co-stars, Greg Kinnear and Alan Arkin, were clearly impressed as both mentioned that they were “astounded by her seriousness of purpose during shooting”. However her first big screen movie started in 2002 with her role in ‘Signs‘ as Mel Gibson’s daughter, Bo Hess. Her first movie was relatively successful and critics praised her performance as natural and nuanced.

Nearly 15 now, Breslin has been spotted shooting with Sarah Jessica Parker on set of the sequel to ‘Valentine’s Day’, ‘New Year’s Eve’ (due to premiere this year). The pretense of the film is set to be much like the first; the lives of a multitude of couples and singles whose lives intertwine throughout the film.

She is playing Hailey, the daughter of Parker’s character Kate, who will learn throughout the film that she relies too heavily on her young daughter for company.

We’ll keep you updated on when the trailer is finally released but we look forward to seeing Abigail in her first grown-up role… although we do kind of miss her geeky look from ‘Little Miss Sunshine’!
