Anjelica Huston was born 8 July, 1951 in Santa Monica, California. She is a third generation Oscar winner, having won an Academy Award for the film “Prizzi’s Honor“, in which she joins the ranks of father, director John Huston, and grandfather, actor Walter Huston.
Huston lived in Ireland when she was younger and attended Kylemore Abbey High School in Connemara, Ireland. She had a brief career as a model before venturing into acting. She is a self-confessed cat lady, claiming to have eight outdoor cats and three indoor cats at her Venice, California home.
Huston had an on again, off again relationship with Jack Nicholson spanning sixteen years from 1973 to 1989 (!). In a 1985 interview with People magazine, Huston and Nicholson let the public into their lives in a way they don’t normally do. Producer of Prizzi’s Honor Bob Evans claimed that they were completely in love and that Nicholson would never leave her. Well, he apparently did because their love fizzled and she married sculptor Robert Graham in 1992 and they stayed together until he died in 2008.
Huston has worked steadily in the film industry for decades in films such as Prizzi’s Honor (for which she was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role), Ever After, and, most recently, in the moving film 50/50 where she plays Joseph Gordon Levitt’s overbearing mother.
In Smash, Huston plays Eileen Rand, the musical’s producer who threatens the musical with her ongoing divorce process.
Smash musical composer Scott Wittman hinted at Anjelica singing in Smash, teasing “There’s a big surprise coming, ladies and gentleman,” inciting a media frenzy spanning from E! to Perez.
