The Greenwich Comedy Festival

The Greenwich Comedy Festival

At last we don’t have to drag ourselves up to Edinburgh to enjoy a brilliant comedy festival, the Greenwich Comedy Festival comes to London from September 7th-13th. The Old Royal Naval College opens its grounds to a superb lineup that includes Russell Howard, Rob Newman, Rich Hall, Jo Brand, Mark Watson, and Arthur Smith. The event is spread over a range of venues including: The Grounds, Greenwich Theatre, Royal Observatory, and South East London’s most notorious comedy club, Up The Creek, which is also celebrating its 20th Anniversary, so there’s plenty of places to have a chuckle.

With over 15,000 tickets, for nearly 30 shows, some of the funniest names in the comedy business will be there. One of our favourites Russell Howard, a regular on BBC2’s brilliant Mock the Week has nearly sold out his show with his infectious style of stand-up.  All the way to Mark Watson, (another Mock the Week veteran) continues to win people over with his ambitious 24-hour shows.

The comedy festival wraps up with a silent disco set to take place on the 12th at the Old Royal Naval College. Make sure you attend this one, they are so surreal but such fun. Fix your headphones in place and enjoy, if you don’t like the song—just switch to the next channel. Imagine yourself surrounded by people with giant wireless headphones singing and dancing to different music channels as two DJs battle for the crowd and you’re pretty much there.
