The Lord of the Rings saga isn’t over yet! “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is set to be released on 14th December 2012 and it sees Bilbo Baggins as the hero as he sets off on a quest to save the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from an evil dragon named Smaug.

The best part? Some of the great actors of the original film trilogy will be returning! Gandalf the Grey will still be played by wonderful Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman, award winning actor from the BBC series “Sherlock,” will be our hero Bilbo Baggins. More of the original crew from “The Lord of the Rings” are Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum.

When Elijah Wood found out he had the honour of returning to the cast he was asked if he had ever thought about returning to that character. He replied; “No, we thought we were finished and the character doesn’t even exist in [the book of] The Hobbit, so it was not even a pipe dream to imagine the possibility would be there for me to reprise the role of Frodo. But they’ve come up with something that I think is kind of interesting and I think very fitting that doesn’t necessarily infringe upon the integrity of the original novel. It’s great. I’m really excited.”
