The Rib Room

Eating at The Rib Room, Jumeirah Carlton Tower (London SW1) managed by Joeness Amara-Bangali is an uptown experience where the culinary standards are guaranteed to satisfy your every desire. Certainly a great setting for any occasion The Rib Room has been serving British cuisine including Aberdeen Angus Beef carved to order since 1961 and with that in mind the quintessential waiter service is in everyway an endorsement of the menu created by Chef de Cuisine – Donato Russo.

If for you meeting up with friends is a regular custom, you will be pleased to know that The Rib Bar itself is also worth visiting.  This warm elegant bar is slightly elevated above the main restaurant and the perfect setting for a drink’s party or, as with us; pre-dinner cocktails.

The drinks menu was exciting and fun and the barman confidently prepared a Classic Cosmo and a Long Island Tea before stimulating us with the taste of a Cucumber Martini with Belvedere Vodka. A mix of fresh cucumber balanced with Gomme syrup and a ring of Red Port, this drink freshened the palette perfectly.  After tapping ones foot to the tunes of the evening pianist and having swapped the latest hearsay and scandal with each other, our appetites took the lead.  No sooner had we approached the restaurant, we were greeted and seated by the modest poise of an experienced host.

It was our intention to eat, drink and indeed have fun, so with that in mind the sommelier recommended a bottle of Insoglio del Cinghiale Campo di Sasso Bibbona Toscana 2006.  After all we were undoubtedly going to eat steak which just has to be accompanied by a decent bottle of red.  No sooner had we ordered and tasted the wine, our starters were brought before us; Oak smoked Lock Fyne salmon, Caramelised scallops with slow cooked belly of pork, orange and ginger dressing and the Rib Room prawn cocktail.  These were the first of many delectable food treats to be served up on the night and as we were indeed amongst friends, we were fortunate in that we could all have a taste of each others.
