We’re excited to catch this new film, directed by Ralph Fiennes, in cinemas from next January.

Coriolanus is Fiennes directorial debut based on Shakespeare’s original play and still retains the language, however it has been shot using modern technology and environments making it look like one hard hitting film indeed!

The film also stars Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave, Jessica Chastain and James Nesbitt and revolves around Caius Martius “Coriolanus” (Fiennes) who’s a feared Roman General that is at odds with the city of Rome and his fellow citizens. Pushed by his controlling and ambitious mother “Volumnia” (Redgrave) to seek the exalted and powerful position of Consul, he is loath to ingratiate himself with the masses whose votes he needs in order to secure the office. When the public refuse to support him, Coriolanus’s anger prompts a riot which culminates in his expulsion from Rome. The banished hero then allies himself with his sworn enemy “Tullus Aufidius” (Butler) to take his revenge on the city.

The film is set for release by Lionsgate UK on 20th January 2012. Check out the trailer below:
