The Rum Diary

After “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” comes another film based on a Hunter S. Thompson novel that once again stars the brilliant Johnny Depp; The Rum Diary.

In director Bruce Robinson’s new film, Depp plays an American journalist named Paul Kemp who takes a freelance job at a San Juan newspaper in Puerto Rico. He works alongside a group of booze-loving, self-destructive staffers and finds himself in an erotic love triangle with the beautiful Chenault, played by Amber Heard (Zombieland).

Set in the 1950s, the film is loosely based on the autobiographical novel of the same name, which the journalist/novelist wrote when he was just 22-years-old. Like “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” this film is bound to be full of wacky happenings played to the best effect by Johnny Depp, and with warm and sunny Puerto Rico as the beautiful backdrop to the film, we’re interested in seeing what it’s all about once it hits cinemas on 4th November.
