It has been almost 6 months since the news that a Yves Saint Laurent film charting the relationship between the legendary fashion designer and his partner of 50 years, Perre Berge, was in the works, with French director Jalil Lespert at the helm.
And now, in a rather interesting turn of events, news has reached us that another Yves Saint Laurent film is also in the making – this time without the approval of Berge and led by another Frech director, Bertrand Bonello.
It’s not just the film that has piqued our interest, but rather the bloody gorgeous model-cum-actor that has been chosen to play a young Yves; Gaspard Ulliel, who you may recognise as the current face of Chanel’s Bleu de Chanel fragrance.
The Bonello-directed blockbuster is said to highlight the Parisian fashion scene during the 1960s and 70s, whilst the Lespert film will be more of a biopic documenting the fashion designer’s life and loves.
We’re already hooked, although we sense something of a film maker/ fashion rivalry brewing.
