Ah fashion. Always a giant leap ahead of the rest of the world. We’ve only just found our summer feet, and whilst soaking up the sunshine in our bikinis we’re simultaneously flicking through the September issues, getting a heat rash at the very idea of winter coats, tailoring and leather.
But forget about highlighting must-have new season purchases and folding page corners and instead take cast your eyes over the autumn/winter 2013 ad campaigns. A much less scary introduction to the new lines and trends, whilst also casting you into a whole other world. A world where super-sweet Michelle Williams turns tough luxe bombshell for Louis Vuitton, Penelope Cruz smoulders for Loewe and Sienna Miller showcases her loved-up status for Burberry. Where we see a fresh urban edge to Lea Seydoux, Kate Moss as a brunette for Versace and Christy Turlington back, 25 years later, in Calvin Klein lingerie.
We can’t wait to feel the chill of autumn.
Shot in the streets of New York City, Rag & Bone’s campaign stuck to the brand’s signature aesthetic, urban, edgy and super natural. Lea Seydoux was snapped in a series of candid, black and white candid images, against the backdrop of NYC subways. Cool, NY street styling at its best.
Penelope Cruz. Surely no other woman is more subtly sexual? Shot in the brand’s home city of Madrid, the images look like scenes from a film. Pops of bright colour set against a sedate new season palette. We’re slightly in awe of her severe brunette bob, blunt fringe and are itching for the crimson make up shades.
Cara Delevinge is flooding the fashion industry, posing in campaigns for Mulberry, DKNY, and FENDI, to name but a few. And yet, surprisingly we’re still not sick of the sight of her, in fact, we find ourselves poring over every new image of her, analysing the nuances of her make up, stance, the line of her clothes and revelling in seeing her in a more serious stance than her Instagram roll is renowned for being. And so for FENDI’s AW13 campaign, Cara made her way to Rome to model the sharp mono-hued designs from the brand. Despite the sensational backdrop of the breathtaking city rooftops, it’s hard to take your eyes of the Brit model, and her energy, youth and beauty.
Chameleon Kate can do now wrong. And for this ‘stripped back’ Versace campaign, she’s newly brunette – a look we haven’t seen for quite some time. Appearing completely nude apart from three strategically placed Vanitas quilted leather handbags, the 39 year-old model brings her rock’n’roll sexiness to the brand, posing in a yellow and black fluffy animal print jacket in another shot, with what appears to be nothing underneath, yet again.
Continuing with Burberry’s ‘couple concept’, Sienna Miller and her fiance Tom Sturridge are the new faces of the brand. The real life couple bring true passion and intimacy to the images. Fresh fashion.
Max Mara are renowned for their coats. Classic cut, with perfectly balanced lapels and the most luxurious of textures. They also do immaculate handbags. And who better to represent the brand than Jennifer Garner. A classic, immaculate beauty, with as much class and chic as the New York label.
Edie Campbell portrayed no less than six different women and personalities in Lanvin’s campaign – complete with turban and curly-sue wigs! The campaign playfully illustrates the retro 1960’s inspired collection. Edie wore drool-worthy ensembles, each dramatically different from one another – suggesting the versatility of their latest collection, and the in demand model.
Just Cavalli snagged Dominik Bauer, Rodolfo Zanforlini, Ben Hunter, Karlina Caune, Julia Frauche, and Moanon Leloup for their rebellios Fall 2013 ad campaign. Their latest collection, shot in Barcelona, (peacefully) screams individuality, through the vibrant clashing prints and luxe textured fabrics.
Three fashion stars – Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Poppy Delevingne, and Anouck Lepere – languish in the luxury of JOIE. Simplicity, pale tones, bold prints and easy-wear model-of-duty pieces.
25 years later and supermodel Christy Turlington Burns returns to Calvin Klein. She appears to have defied all the laws of ageing, showcasing the very same flawless face and tanned, tone body. Bionic woman or blessed beauty. We imagine both.
