It’s about that time of year again where the September issues are hitting shelves, packed to the brim with beautifully tailored new season styles and of course, almost as enthralling as the shopping pages themselves are the reems upon reems of beautifully shot ads. And this autumn, for the first time since the brand was conceived back in 1947, Emilio Pucci will be joining the pages of adverts.
Rather remarkably, in its’ 60 or so years the luxury Italian brand has never launched or even embarked on a commercial ad campaign, until now – perfectly timed in 2012 as the brand celebrates its 60th birthday. For its debut, Pucci have commissioned popular photographers Mert & Marcus to shoot the beautiful 90s supermodel and actress, who has been all over our screens as of late in U.S. drama series Revenge, Amber Valetta, in the rather apt setting of the Palazzo Pucci.
The three shots, part of creative director Peter Dundas’ vision of luxurious femininity, show the house, renowned for their psychedelic prints, in a rather different light. Valetta lies seductively on a chaise longue whilst sporting a little black dress in sheer mesh, a printed body con top and a bold Pucci-motif blue and white suit. Her piercing green eyes are set off by a full red painted lip and beautifully sculpted Veronica waves.
Although we just can’t believe it’s taken Pucci quite so long, but from the look of the campaign, it has been totally worth the wait.
